Τα έργα που παρουσιάζονται στην έκθεση κινούνται στο ευρύτερο πλαίσιο του αφηρημένου εξπρεσσιονισμού με ένα πολύ προσωπικό ζωγραφικό ιδίωμα που προσεγγίζει την ποιητική αφαίρεση. Η καλλιτέχνης δίνει τους δικούς της τίτλους στα έργα όμως η προσέγγιση που θα έχει τελικά ο θεατής και η αίσθηση που θα αποκομίσει στην θέαση των έργων ενδέχεται να ποικίλει. Οι διαφορετικές αναγνώσεις είναι απολύτως θεμιτές και οι θεατές τελικά γίνονται συμμέτοχοι και συνδημιουργοί.
Ο Ιστορικός Τέχνης Δρ Θοδωρής Κουτσογιάννης αναφέρει: “Χωρίς συγκεκριμένες αναφορές στον εξωτερικό κόσμο, τα έργα της Άννας Μαρίας Παπαδημητρίου μπορούν να ιδωθούν ως απόκοσμα, σχεδόν ονειρικά, υπερβατικά «τοπία». Η όποια συσχέτιση με τον φυσικό κόσμο, οδηγεί μάλλον σε υδάτινο περιβάλλον, ως πεδίο εκκίνησης της ζωής, της δημιουργίας. Οι ζωγραφικές δημιουργίες της Παπαδημητρίου καλούν τον θεατή να περιπλανηθεί, εικονικά, σε «αχαρτογράφητα νερά», στο ασυνείδητο, στον κόσμο που υπάρχει πέρα από τις παραδεδεγμένες αισθήσεις μας. Οι νοητικές συνάψεις και οι αισθητηριακές εκλάμψεις που δυνητικά προκαλούν οι αποχρώσεις της ζωγράφου φτάνουν μέχρι του σημείου της εκστατικής αυτοσυνείδησης.”
Γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα και πρόσφατα μετακίνησε το εργαστήριο της στη Σύρο. Αρχικά αποφοίτησε από το τμήμα Εσωτερικής Αρχιτεκτονικής της σχολής Γραφικών Τεχνών και Καλλιτεχνικών Σπουδών Αθηνών και λίγο μετά στράφηκε στην Ανώτατη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας, ακολουθώντας την επιθυμία της για απεριόριστη έκφραση. Σπούδασε Ζωγραφική με καθηγητές τους Γιάννη Βαλαβανίδη και Μιχάλη Μανουσάκη (2000-2005). Παρουσίασε την πρώτη ατομική της έκθεση στην Αθήνα (Γκαλερί Αστρολάβος, 2010). Από τότε τα έργα της έχουν εκτεθεί σε ομαδικές και ατομικές εκθέσεις παγκόσμια. Το 2014 διακρίθηκε σε διεθνή διαγωνισμό διοργανωμένο από τον εικαστικό διαδικτυακό ιστότοπο CultureInside με έδρα τη Νέα Υόρκη και το Λουξεμβούργο όπου και εξέθεσε τα έργα της. Από το 2017 συμμετέχει στην ετήσια Art Athina, εκπροσωπούμενη από την γκαλερί Αστρολάβος. Τα ζωγραφικά της έργα αξιοποιούν μια σειρά αντιθέσεων: το πραγματικό και το ουτοπικό, την κίνηση και την ηρεμία, το άχρονο και το στιγμιαίο. Συχνά αναφέρεται στη δουλειά της με τον όρο “ανοίκεια εσωτερικά τοπία” πιστεύοντας ότι το Ανοίκειο είναι ένας χώρος ανοιχτός, πλατύτερος, που επεκτείνει τα όρια του προς κάθε κατεύθυνση ατενίζοντας στιγμιαία την αλήθεια. Το Ανοίκειο και οι ενδείξεις για τα μη ορατά υπήρχαν προφανώς ως εσωτερικοί της προβληματισμοί καθώς συνδεόταν με μια ζωγραφική διαδικασία που έμοιαζε με την εμπειρία αλλεπάλληλων καταδύσεων στα βάθη του Αόρατου. Έργα της βρίσκονται σήμερα σε πολλές ιδιωτικές συλλογές σε κάθε ήπειρο του γαλάζιου πλανήτη μας.

Gallery Dia Chronos presents the painting exhibition of Anna Maria Papadimitriou – “From the Depths, We Emerge Like Words”
The works presented in the exhibition move within the wider context of abstract expressionism with a very personal painterly idiom that approaches poetic abstraction. The artist gives her own titles to the works but the approach the viewer will ultimately have and the feeling obtained from viewing the works may vary. Different readings are perfectly legitimate and the viewers ultimately become participants and co-creators.
The Art Historian Dr. Thodoris Koutsoyiannis says: “Without specific references to the outside world, the paintings of Anna Maria Papadimitriou can be seen as otherworldly, almost dreamlike, transcendental “landscapes”. Any association with the natural world leads rather to an aquatic environment, as a starting point for life and creation. Papadimitriou’s paintings invite the viewer to wander, virtually, in “uncharted waters”, in the unconscious, in the world that exists beyond our senses. The mental synapses and sensory outbursts potentially evoked by the Painter’s hues reach the point of ecstatic self-awareness.”
Born and raised in Athens Greece, Anna Maria Papadimitriou recently moved her painting studio to the Aegean island of Syros. Initially trained in Interior Architecture, she turned to the Athens School of Fine Arts following her longing for limitless expression. She studied Painting under the professors Yannis Valavanidis and Michalis Manousakis (2000-2005). She presented her first solo exhibition in Athens (Astrolavos Gallery, 2010). Since then, her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions worldwide. In 2014 she won an international competition curated by CultureInside Gallery in Luxembourg. Since 2017 she has participated in the annual international “Art Athina” represented by Astrolavos Gallery. Her paintings utilise a series of contrasts: elements real and utopian, movement and calm, things timeless and instantaneous. She often refers to her work as “unfamiliar internal landscapes” claiming that the Unfamiliar is a more open space, broader, stretching its boundaries out in all directions for a single instant gazing at the truth. The non-visible and the clues to the Unseen were obviously issues that existed unconsciously as she was connecting to a painting process that resembled the experience of successive dives into the depths of the Invisible. Her work can be found in several private collections in all continents of our blue planet.
